New Kid on the Block
Recently voted finalist in the prestigious Grand Designs Awards 2009 for Best Bathroom Product, the Touchtile System heralds a new approach to showering control.
Hewn from a single block of Corian, the minimalist-shaped tile provides a grid of touch-sensitive indentations that allow a completely tailored showering experience with no need for pre-programming.
The 'buttons' on the Evolution Shower control flow rate from left to right and temperature from the bottom to the top. Just pick the one you want and a thermostatically pre-mixed water flow will arrive without delay. If the settings are not to your liking, they can be reprogrammed giving you complete control.
Just so you know what you have selected, there is a voice feedback to confirm.
It also comes with a divert setting should you wish to add a shower handset, body jets or bath filler.
We think it is a very special idea in a world of extensive brassware and expensive electronics. The soft feel of the aesthetic lends it well to almost any modern bathroom design, not to mention being available in the 100 different Corian colours.
Very soon, the matching shower-head will be released which will be suitably matching and unique.
Best of all, you don't have to look to Europe for the source of this innovation. It has been developed in Cambridge, England and is a great product that details the British forward-thinking design capability.
The price for the Touchtile is £1,500.
